Matt
Favourite football team:
Aberdeen
Coaching experience:
15 years coaching in multiple sports, 10 years primary PE teaching, a degree in Sports Development and Coaching from Northumbria University.
Why do I coach:
To see players develop their skills and engage in sport. Sport has given me so much and I get as much reward seeing the players I coach develop and get the same positive experiences as I did.
How I want my team to play:
I want all of my teams to play without fear and with the confidence to express themselves on the pitch. Playing with creativity, football intelligence and an attitude to work as hard as they can for the team.
The most important way I want my teams to play is with a smile on their face. Sport is competitive but has to be fun at every level otherwise why would we play??

Coaching experience:
5 years experience coaching primary school football teams, 3 years experience managing a men’s football team. Last season was my first year running a girls football team, hopefully it is the first of many.
Why do I coach:
My two biggest passions are football and education. I enjoy working with older age groups and teaching them the tactical elements of the game. I also love working with young children, they have bundles of energy and watching them develop and acquire new skills is immensely rewarding
How do I want my team to play:
First and foremost I want my teams to be brave, both in and out of possession. I never want my players to be afraid to lose the ball or try something outside of the box. I like my teams to be inventive and expressive. My teams will always be player rather than coach led. I will very rarely instruct from the sidelines, I want to develop independent problem solvers, and that starts with letting them make the decisions for themselves.
